And this is why…

by Matt Stratton on November 3, 2004

This was posted on Yehoodi. And it explains to everyone why we have four more years of GWB.

I always vote on morals and values.
I also vote for someone who says they are
a strong Christian cause I believe then that they will
pray about the issues and seek God’s help in making
a decisions.

That is why I voted the way I did.
It’s not open for debate.

What possible tactics exist to argue or even discuss issues with these people? I know we should stay and fight but… HOW?? This the pervasive mentality of the country.

This from the village idiot who believes in creationism. Seriously, are you surprised at her decision making process.

Honey, I’m not surprised at all that *she* feels this way.

My point is she is not alone. All her buddies in Kansas and all those other Red states are with her as well.

We shoulda just let them secede.

That’s the problem. You cannot debate or discuss with them.

Here’s the issue – we have people who say “I will vote for a strong Christian who makes his faith a big part of his decision making process”.

I would never vote for someone like that. But people like that will. And therefore, there is no way to sway.

Until we get more smart people born in this country, we’re back to being led around by a bunch of whitebread Bible Belt whackadoos.

No, 49% of her buddies in the Red states are with her.

And though many people are like her, it’s doubtful that everyone who voted Bush is as mind-numbingly moronic as she. Because when I drive through Kansas on occasion, I don’t see drooling idiots stumbling down the street with glazed looks in their eyes. Um, at least that’s how I imagine her.

I said *her* buddies. Not necessarily everyone in those states.

My point is…there are LOTS of people like her. And I understand that generalities are foolish – just like not everyone who voted for Kerry is a braless hippie who wants to legalize beastiality.

i guess if God tells some dude to kill your mom, it’s a-o-k in your book.

Gary had a good reply to her.

He asked why some people “believe, on its face, what some candidates say about their faith, but [greet] every other statement with at least some skepticism.”

My son turns one next week. I’m afraid of what might happen to him if we stay here.

If I can’t afford private school (and with this kickin’ economy we’ve got going on…), who knows what his public schooling will be like. Maybe he’ll learn Darwin; maybe he’ll learn creationism. Maybe he won’t learn anything at all. We don’t seem to value education or intelligence too much around here…

I think that really depends on where you live.

Remember, a lot of this stuff still boils down to the state level. I live in Chicago and am considering moving to NYC. In either case, I feel pretty good about where I’ll be living – both places are pretty darn blue and generally agree with my philosophies and politics (actually, Chicago is a bit TOO Dem for my tastes…but that’s just years and years of Daley talking there).

Plus, have you SEEN her?

There’s no way that girl has ever gotten laid. No wonder she’s in love with Jesus.

I feel you.

Boy, after reading this thread, I just had to say please be sure to keep in mind what mugsy just said above:

“…generalities are foolish…”

When I read this thread, what I saw was intolerance for anyone who thinks differently than you. I saw things like “village idiot”, “simple-minded” and “buffoons” to mention a few.

The Democrats (and from what I’ve read here all of you) preach tolerance, yet looking above I also see things like “whitebread Bible Belt whackadoos”, “the village idiot who believes in creationism” and “There’s no way that girl has ever gotten laid. No wonder she’s in love with Jesus.”

Look, I’m just saying feel free to vent if you’re angry. But please don’t be so elitist as to think that anyone who has a different opinion than you (be it politically or theologically) is automatically uneducated, irresponsible or just plain downright stupid. Because that would be both ignorant and intolerant.

Thank you.

Kevin is, of course, right as usual.

The only thing, KMP – the people referring to the girl as “the village idiot” actually know her and are basing that on a lot more than just the one quote I posted there.

I stand by my point that there are such things as “whitebread Bible-belt whackadoos”. Just like there are “braless hippie freak nutjobs”. No ideology or political party has a monopoly on fanaticism or idiocy. Except for the Idiot Party, but they never manage to get on the ballot because they always lose the paperwork.

Faith is what got us into this message in the first place. I say: less faith, more doubt.

The person who wrote that is Yehoodi’s village idiot. She is so well known for being naive, unintelligent and thick-headed that she’s inspired a verb named after her, defined loosely as someone who misses the point so completely yet argues so vehmently as to derail the thread completely.

I’m sure a lot of the comments on this post are tinged with general anger over the election. But let me assure you that my comments, and probably the rest as well are targeted directly at her.

There are a few very intelligent, well-spoken conservatives who contribute a lot to discussions and are respected on Yehoodi. She is just an idiot who happens to be conservative. She could be a liberal moron and still get the same reactions.
