Friday Fun – People actually factually search for this stuff?

by Matt Stratton on April 17, 2009

When I’m feeling lazy on a Friday, a sure-fire “fun” post is to share with you Good Old Rockers some of the hilarious search terms that lead people to this blog. Here’s the latest!

evite harvest - This search term actually got someone to my post about Evite and spam, and this intrepid Googler felt the need to leave me a nastygram. Fun times!

pimp google reader - I wonder if they meant “pimp” as a noun or a verb. It would be funny if people were looking for a specific Google Reader for use by pimps. Or maybe a Google device for reading your pimps. The variations are endless! Okay, maybe there’s just the two.

yelp mud bath – This just plain scares me. Did they want a Yelp review of mud baths? Or a mud bath that makes someone yelp?

what does unyk acronym mean? – I kind of want to know this one myself.

here i am dancing like a hurricane – Best search term ever. EVER.

  • For some reason, I'm still in position three for "frea cartoon network porn," all because I wrote a post about getting a virus from a CN game. It was a computer virus, Google, not a STD. There is a difference.

If only I could really talk to the Google bots.

And why "frea"? My post wasn't even worthy enough to make the "free cartoon network porn" search results? And who is stupid or perverted enough to search for either?

I did finally get another interesting one. I'm now in the search results for "armadillo for sale." Whoopee!

  • Hi Matt - I love how people find our blogs. In the past I've done a post like this too, and my most popular one was "how much money for suing for alienation of affection" which lead them to a blog post I did which talked about how addicted we can become to our blogs and how spouses may start suing "the blog" for alienation of affection. I'm guessing when they land on that, they're disappointed. :)

  • Hey...I dance like a hurricane too! :) That's hysterical. Which post did the search term take you to?

    Grandy’s last blog post..Sunday Stalker Spotlight - ME...Sorta...
  • The search for here i am dancing like a hurricane takes you to this post:

Here I am…rock you like a hurricane… - which was my very first post back in 2001!
  • People just search for the strangest things these days, but as long as it's landing on your blog, wicked!!! ;)

  • The internet produces a whole language of it's own.

    NetChick sent me here.

  • Hmm, I don't have any fun terms - just a lot of dirty searches. Go figure - I kind of expected that.
  • "Expected"? Or "counted on"?
  • Fabulous. One of the search terms someone used to get to my Etsy shop was "and hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, they danced by the light of the moon".

  • I was going to put together a post like this myself - but I'll wait until my blog's been around a little longer because they keep pouring in. You would be amazed at what "_____ without pants" search terms I get with a blog title like Life Without Pants. I feel like I am sorely disappointing visitors who are obviously looking for something much more...fun.

  • Ha! I'm sure you do get some very...um...interesting search hits, Matt.

Hmm...you could probably end up writing some pretty passable erotica just by randomly assembling the search queries that end up sending users to Life Without Pants and Stacked!
